Every doge has 256 bits of itself on-chain. When your gameplay doge earns XP and mutates, the bits on-chain actually change.
The Potions Master reads your DNA. Seven appearance trait-clusters branch off one side of the helix, five power-clusters off the other. When your doge mutates mid-round, she's the one rewriting the bits.
What's in the DNA
The 256 bits encode everything that makes a doge who it is:
- Country — 4 bits. Burned in at mint, permanent.
- Evolution stage — 3 bits. Genesis through Gen 7. Mutates.
- Appearance genes — 105 bits. Seven groups of three traits. Mutates.
- Power genes — 60 bits. Five groups of three traits. Mutates.
- Breed — 2 bits. One of four body types per country. Permanent.
- Reserved — 82 bits. Room for future expansion.
Genesis doges launch deliberately weak. Appearance traits are capped low, and the last two power slots start completely locked. You unlock them by playing.
The three mutations
When a mutation fires, the contract rewrites your doge's DNA and multiplier on the spot and writes the new state back to the NFT.
- Evolution — the rare one. Bumps generation up one stage, rewrites the portrait, and adds a +50 base multiplier.
- Power surge — rerolls a power trait upward and bumps the multiplier by +25.
- Trait shift — repaints a visual gene and adds +5 to the multiplier.
Evolution gets harder the higher your generation. Late-stage upgrades are genuinely rare.

Why the DNA matters
A doge isn't a PFP — it's a character with memory. Your country, your breed, your evolution stage, your power stats, every win and every mutation you grind out all live on-chain. Nothing about it can be spoofed, faked, or taken away off-platform.
